Very disappointing they are proposing to exclude my own field of public transport from the regulations

In our response we said that there is no sound reason why the provision should be limited to certain sectors, unless there can be an argument that consumers in some sectors do not need protection!

However, for any that are excluded, providers will likely come under pressure because:

- The move away from 084 and 087 numbers in other sectors will make people aware of the fact that 03 numbers, which are "clean" of any Service Charge, exist. People will start to reconise which organisations charge a petty fee for telephone contact, and which don't.

- It is expected that Ofcom will announce, soon, that all organisations with 084 and 087 numbers will have to declare the level of Service Charge that they enjoy. This will either cause them to abandon the numbers or require them to provide justification for why they need to impose such a tiny charge.
