DWP to retain 0845 numbers

BBC Money Box today revealed that Iain Duncan Smith has confirmed, in a letter to John Healey MP, that DWP will be retaining 0845 numbers under the new arrangements shortly to be announced by Ofcom.

Any automated site - example call centres should be 0800 or 0500
(ie) no charge. This would stop overnight people being kept waiting
and charged for listening to nothing. Because the site would be charged for the call. Funny how money sharpens their minds !!!
